MINISTRY OF ELECTRIC POWER

Breaking News :

"Yathedaung look like pleasant island "

Although summer time, everybody can see fog in the sky . Colourful flags posting in Yathedaung Substation were waved through blowing air. At the enterance of this substation , there is a portal for opening ceremony. Besides the concrete road, we have  been preparing two stages for these ceremony . The record photos and printed vinyl background which were constructed by Ministry of Electricity and Energy for electricity supply to Rakhine State can be seen proudly along chainlink fencing of Switchyard's face. Now a day , the opening ceremony for Yathedaung Substation will be opened in near future.

Ministry of Electricity and Energy has been planning to supply electricity to Yathedaung , Buthedaung and Maungdaw in upper Rakhine State since August 2017. At that time,we have seen Yathedaung , Buthedaung and Maungdaw regions only on the map. We have never been to Rakhine. After the violence in Rakhine ,It becomes vital to supply electricity as soon as possible for the development of upper Rakhine regions .

Together with Union Minister for MOEE, we have already arrived to the Yathedaung , Buthedaung and Maungdaw regions on 18th September, 2017. This is first trip to Rakhine for me.We have seen Rakhine races who are honest , love  to native and conservative to culture. If there would be 24 hours getting electricity, we could see more developing socio-economic life in this land which is abundant in natural resources.

At that time, there have a dust bowl lifted by waving air. We closed our eyes quickly due to afraid of entering dust.We can see cows eating the rest pick in the field, outside of substation. This surrounding be quiet and peaceful absolutely. The members of MOEE preparing for opening ceremony are active in  hitting, digging , pouring, sheltering , climbing and shouting.

Yathedaung would be supplied electricity  from 230 kV Ponnakyun  Substation and 66 kV transmission line (64.5)miles must be constructed through Ponnakyun- Yathedaung- Buthedaung -Maungtaw . And then, 66 kV Switch Bay extension must be constructed in Ponnakyun Substation. Each Substation must be built in Yathedaung , Buthedaung and Maungtaw.

Now,not only 66 kV Switch Bay but also 66 kV Ponnakyun,- Yathedaung Transmission line (22.2) Miles and 66/11 kV 5MVA Substation have been constructed. 66 kV electricity was distributed on 25th March 2018.It is the first stage which has been successfully accomplished .First stage project was started on 1st October 2017. When the  project began, there was no materials ready. As to  be fastly constructed ,the left materials from previous projects were  collected and transported by Head Office's management . Necessary transmission towers were ordered from steel factory (MEC), Myaung-ta-kar.Due to no ear marked budget project, head office has to try hardly to get emergent budget. Ponnakyun- Yathedaung transmission line includes(105) transmission towers. Four steel Poles were established at outside area of Ponnakyun Substation. The rest (101) towers are lattice Steel Towers. For towers assembling, tower foundation was made firstly and stub that is called steel beam was installed in foundation . At the beginning, there were not adequate stubs and so we have to start with  the left stubs from previous projects . Later,we got from MEC group after group. The last Stubs had arrived on 6th February 2018.The schedule date to electrify to Yathedaung is end of March 2018. We have  time only over one month to supply electricity.

-If and only if all foundation will be finished ,all tower can be assembled. There are not adqueate towers. They  were collected from Yangon, Shwe Taung, Kawkayeik and MEC. It was not easy to transport. The last tower from MEC was arrived on 9th March, 2018. MOEE has planned carefully and to transport and assemble at once when the tower was arrived.

Along the Ponnakyun- Yathedaung road, there are many tidy streams and 9 bridges to pass them. Yathedaung bridge across the Pyar Chaung Gyi in the entrance of Yathedaung has not finished so that the construction materials were hardly transported by engine boats. Some materials including transformers had been transported by water way from Sittway.

Along the Ponnagyun- Yathedaung Transmission Line, we have to pass  lowlands , highlands and mangroves.Out of the  Ponnakyun, there are  fields and lowlands through Tharsi , letwelsar Tide, Fatkya,Pain Noe Taw, Pauk Taw Pyin and Zedi Pyin villages . There are hills from Taw Phyar Kan Chaung village to Kyauk Pyin Sate Village. Pyaing Taung, Kyauk han Chay, Kyain Thar, Tun Yawai Ywer Thit, Pyar Chaung Kyi villages are lowlands.

MOEE has been hardly transported steel beams and essemble materials for  towers on the mountain. Steel beams were gradually transported by man power after loading at nearest of tower location. When bringing to the steep portion , each male  worker can bring only two pin insulators. So, we have to transport up and downs several times.Especially, we were cautious at the time of  construction cable work over the mangroves and tied streams not to touch the sea water. If the cables touch sea water, it can salt and failure within a short time. Since 2012, as electrical engineers and staffs have much experience of transmission lines in Rakhine State, they could overcome multiple difficulties.

The workers from all of Project Manager’s Offices under Power Transmission Project  (Northern) have cooperated in construction of Ponnagyun -Yathe daung Transmission Line. 6  foundation groups  supervised by Project Manager (Civil), 5 tower installation groups, 3 transmission line connection groups and 2 substation construction  groups supervised by Project Manager(2) (Meiktila) had  hardly performed.

MOEE has started to supply electricity to Rakkhine State via National Grid since 2012. Taunggok, Thandwe, Ann, Mruak-U, Kyauktaw, Ponnagyun, Sittwe, Kyaukphyu have electricity upto 24 hours since 2014. Minbya, Myaypone, Pauktaw, Gwa and nearby villages have been electrified in 2017. Now Yathedaung has been electrified and Madae Kyun area will be electrified soon.

The new Yathedaung Bridge can be seen from Yathedaung Substation through the fields. Colourful flags, workers and machines were also seen on bridges. Yathedaung is now electrified and also will directly reach by car from Ponnagyun. Socio-economy of the public will develop by using electricity and transportation.

Civil Servents from DPTSC will continuously construct Transmission Lines and Substations after completion of Yathedaung Region and then Buthedaung and Maungdaw. DPTSC will hardly try to supply electricity up to Maungdaw in Dec, 2018. It  uauslly has heavy rains in Rakhine State. Monsoons usually start in the last days of April and end in September. Project Works are difficultly performed in rainy season.

But DPTSC will heartly try to succeed and to overcome the difficulties. It is very important both to supply materials and to get enough budgets. Civil Sevices from DPTSC are ready to perform for country everytime.

Yathedaung in Rakhine State can start to use electricity via Nation Grid on 1st April, 2018. Yathedaung and nearby villages will electrify upto 24 hours. Yathedaung will fully electrify with light of electrice in near future.

Socio-economy will develop by electricity. Industrialization based on agriculture will develop. Not only education but also health will develop. New employment will be created. Duty of the people from Yathedaung Region is to build and create developed town as other towns. It is also required to be alert and to try their best and to wanna for development. They require not only to know but also to understand the benevolence of the government.
