Union Minister U Win Khaing joins International Forum for Energy Transition 2020: Sustainable Development in the post-COVID 19 Era online

          The International Forum for Energy Transition 2020: Sustainable Development in the post-COVID 19 Era was held on 10 November, 2020 in China, which was jointly organized by The World Economic Forum and State Grid Corporation of China and the Union Minister for Electricity and Energy U Win Khaing attended via online from his office in Nay Pyi Taw.

          At the forum, Prof. Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of World Economic Forum delivered an opening speech and H.E. Mr. Wan Gang, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the CPPCC , President of China Association for Science and Technology and Mr. Mao Weiming, Executive Chairman State Grid Corporation of China gave the keynote addresses.

          The international cooperation for accelerating clean energy transition, promoting usage of renewable energy resources, encouraging smart grid system, technology innovation and policy supports as the energy sector plays a vital role for sustainable development of global socio-economy and responding to the economic impacts of the COVID-19 epidemic were discussed.

          Together with the Union Minister U Win Khaing, Deputy-Minister U Khin Maung Win, Permanent Secretary U Than Zaw, heads of the concerned departments from the Ministry of Electricity and Energy were attended the forum. It was also attended by the ministers, ambassadors and senior officials from the 54 countries and the officials from the World Economic Forum and State Grid Corporation of China. Altogether more than 500 representatives from the relevant organizations attended the forum.
