Deputy Minister Dr. Tun Naing inspects Administration Office of South East Asia Pipeline (SEAP) Co., Ltd in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area

          Deputy Minister for Electricity and Energy Dr. Tun Naing together with Managing Director of Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise and officials made an inspection tour to the Administration Office of South East Asia Pipeline (SEAP) Co., Ltd in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area today morning.

          During the inspection tour, Deputy Director of SEAP Mr. Xia Donglun explained about the operations of natural gas and crude oil pipelines. South East Asia Gas Pipeline Co., Ltd (SEAGP) has supplied about 500 million cubic feet per day of natural gas from Shwe Offshore Project since December 2013 and South East Asia Crude Oil Pipeline Co., Ltd (SEAOP) has supplied about 3500 cubic meters per day of exported crude oil since February 2018. To ensure safe operation during transportation, full-time monitoring and maintenance work of the pipelines are being carried out at Mandalay main control station and the stations at Kyauk Phyu, Made Island, Sin Khong Daing, Yenanchaung, Taung Thar, Pyin Oo Lwin, Hsipaw, Namkham, Muse and Nay Pyi Taw. SEAP is paying special attentions to environmental protection, occupational safety and health measures, land crop compensation and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities in accordance with the relevant rules and regulations. At present, 970 Myanmar citizens (about 81%) are working in the crude oil and natural gas pipeline projects, and further work is being done to improve the service percentage and skills of Myanmar employees.

          Then, the Managing Director and responsible persons of Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise provided additional information and the Deputy Minister instructed to promote awareness programs of the CSR activities to the Hluttaw representatives, the members of the Energy Committee of the upcoming third parliament and the local people in the respective areas, to train skilled workers and technicians in advance for the new normal period and to consider the vaccination of the staff in advance, and to use the full capacity of both pipelines efficient and economically viable.

          Afterwards, the Deputy Minister and party toured the project gallery inside the office of the SEAP Administration Office.
